Jayne Seydell Milburn

Jayne Seydell Milburn, 101, died on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. She was born on June 10, 1915 to Margaret Carter Seydell and Ernest M. Seydell, M.D., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Milburn graduated from Stanford University with an A.B. and a Masters degree and was a member of Phi Beta Phi and Phi Beta Kappa. In 1942 she began a happy marriage to Glenn Milburn, an investment banker. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ernestine Seydell Laing; brother, E. Morris Seydell; niece, Lee Kavanaugh; sister-in-law, Lula Choon Sydell. Jayne was active in many civic organizations: she was a past president of the Wichita Junior League, active in the early days of the Womens Association for the Wichita Symphony Society, founding member of Botanica and former member of its board. She was a member of the Wichita Country Club for 77 years. Jaynes special interests and lifetime association was with the Wichita Art Museum serving on its board for many years. Mrs. Milburn is survived by her nieces, Caroline Seydell Swinson (Sid) of Tulsa, OK, Pamela Milburn Bruder (Stuart), Karen Milburn Gabsch (Orrin), both of La Jolla, CA; nephews, John R. Simpson, III (Joyce) of Mill Valley, CA, Bruce Laing (Kelley) of Hobart, WA. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Memorials have been established with the Wichita Art Museum, 1400 W. Museum Blvd., Wichita, KS 67203; and Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, 701 Amidon St., Wichita, KS 67203.
