Dianne and girls, so sorry for your loss, I will miss my neighbor, the glow from the cell phone and the greeting from the porch in the dark as we return from our early morning walks. Dan Hamel & Rudy
Jeff was a joy to talk to and I looked forward to sitting on the porch with him. Most of our conversations included him laughing as he told stories or as he talked about important things, things that would frustrate others or people would avoid, he would like to talk about and find humor in it. He probably talked about his family the most, what a privilege to know him. Going to miss this guy.
Jeff was my shipmate on Queenfish where we shared a hot rack as young sonar men and stood port and starboard watches as sonar supervisors. Jeff taught me to love motorcycles and some of my finest memories are riding with Jeff in Pearl Harbor, Bremerton, and San Diego. Jeff was instrumental in me meeting my wife as she waitressed at a coffee shop we frequented in between rides. I exchanged emails with him recently where he bragged about his wonderful daughters as they left the nest and took on the world. He will be missed greatly.
I know any words of mine will prove fruitless in easing your grief, but I’ll try anyway. My sincerest condolences to the entire Terrell family. I served on Queenfish as a Sonar Technician from 1970 – 1975. Jeff was a great crew member. More so, he was my friend. Time and distance not withstanding, that stands. I still have a picture of Jeff and me—in the Sonar shack—hanging in my home office. We were so young. We felt immortal because we were doing something most people would never think about doing. He, and all of you, will be in my thoughts and prayers. In this way, he indeed remains immortal. We’ll all miss you,Jeff. With Gods mercy, this is just goodbye for now. We’ll all meet again some day. May you Rest In Peace, brother, and forever be in God’s loving embrace. Allen Heisler [STS2(SS)] 613 Eastwick Dr. Reading, PA 19606 610-780-7450 aheislermail@yahoo.com
Fair winds and following seas sailor. “Boatswain… Standby to pipe the side… Shipmate’s going Ashore…” Thank you Jeffrey for your service to this nation. U.S. Navy.
Best Sonar Supervisor Queenfish ever had. I went from learning from him as a brand new sonarman, to being Sonar Supervisor on the USS Seawolf three years later. Thanks Jeff, for all you taught me. Glenn Fillmore STSMC
