Jenell Marie Smith, 72, died Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Rosary will be at 8:00 pm, Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, November 11, 2021, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Jenell was a county extension agent for Kansas State University and 4H. Preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Hulda Matson; sisters, Cleora Matson, Eileen Ransopher. Survived by her husband, Dennis D. Smith of Wichita, KS; sons, Ty (Brooke) Smith of Wichita, KS, Trent Smith of St. Paul, MN; grandsons, Carter Smith, Damon Smith; sisters, Irma Jean (Rod) Blaha of Clifton, KS, Hayley (Mike Mathes) Matson-Mathes of Honolulu, HI; numerous nieces, other relatives & friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Sedgwick County 4-H, 7001 W. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67205 and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Rebuild My Church Campaign, 861 North Socora, Wichita, KS 67212.

I have lived next door to Jenell for 34 years. She was a wonderful person and I will miss her. I want to express my sympathy to Dennis, Ty, and Trent.
