GODDARD - Jerome "Jerry" Ridder, 78, was born July 3, 1940, in Goddard, Kansas, to John and Agnes (Abt) Ridder, and entered eternal rest on November 18, 2018. Jerry married Patricia (Rausch) on August 12, 1961. They have 3 children, Daniel J. (Joyce) Ridder of Garden Plain, Douglas S. (Shelli) Ridder of Hutchinson and Sara A. Ridder of Wichita; 7 grandchildren, Jacob, Samantha, Chelsea (Matt) Voboril, Michael, Thomas, Gerald and Katherine. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Mary Clark, Esther Oliverson, Tom, Larry, Sr. Helen A.S.C., Dave and infant sister, Anita Ridder. He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. Jerry was a Navy veteran (who was proud of having completed a world cruise while on the aircraft carrier the USS Shangri-La), a retired professional truck driver for Consolidated Freightways, and a truck driving instructor for WATC and Corporate Safety Consultants. He also was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and Guadalupe Clinic. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Friday, November 23; The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 24, both at Church of the Holy Spirit. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Guadalupe Clinic, 940 S. St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67211 and Church of the Holy Spirit, 18218 W. Hwy 54, Goddard, KS 67052. Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.

  3. Pat, Dan, Doug and Sarah – We share years of friendship and memories and feel deeply saddened at the loss of Jerry. We dont remember ever seeing him without a smile or a friendly greeting. He was pretty special. We hope you find strength and a new closeness to the Lord, Pat. We will think of all of you often. Take extra good care of your mother Dan, Doug and Sarah, she is very special too.

  6. My sympathy to Jerrys family. I knew him since being little kids…we were neighbors on the farm a mile east and a mile north of Goddard. Saw each other nearly everyday, played together, actually grew up together. I feel “What lives once lives forever”.

  11. Jerry was one of my favorite cousins. He was the same age as my brother Don. He always had a smile on his face, and would come talk to me at different family functions. He was a super nice person, and I will miss him. My sympathy and prayers to Pat and the kids.

  12. Jerry was such a wonderful man all his life. I have vivid memories of walking home from grade school with Jerry. Any candy he had was immediately shared with everyone. That is how he lived his life. He will be missed but NEVER forgotten. RIP. Matt Eck
