Jimmie Freese, 88, beloved husband, died Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Memorial Service will be at 10:00, Monday, April 28, 2025 at West Evangelical Free Church. Jim attended and graduated from Grant Rural High School, Stark, Kansas in 1954. After high school, he served in the United States Navy as a personnel clerk. Jim started his career with the United States Postal Service as a carrier in 1958 and retired in 1992 as a city carrier. Jim coached a Little League Baseball team for nine years. Jim married Terry "Lynn" Johnson in 1991. He volunteered for Hospice for ten years, touching many lives. He was a member of West Evangelical Free Church and loved to travel. Jim traveled to all 49 states and most of Canada by car. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest John and Gladys Ione Freese; sister, Marilyn Hall; step-son, Chris Johnson; and grandson, Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Terry "Lynn" Freese; son, Brian Freese of Granger, Indiana; daughter, Tammy (Steve) Gilboux; step-son, Jeff (Tammy) Johnson; daughter-in-law, Cindy Johnson; grandchildren, Tyler, Rachel, Keaton, Kyle, Kaleb, and Brent. A memorial has been established with West Evangelical Free Church, 1161 N. Maize Road, Wichita. Services arranged by Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.

  1. Jim loved to serve. When my husband injured his shoulder and Jim heard me say I am going to attempt to mow, he showed up right away without being asked, to mow my lawn. I am so grateful for that.
    He also love to joke around and I would tease him about being trouble. We will miss Jim!
