Jimmy Ray Haynes entered his heavenly home on December 6, 2024 at the age of 75. He was born on February 6, 1949 at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas to Donnalea H. and Charles R. Haynes. Jimmy grew up in Andover, Kansas, graduating from Andover High School in 1967. He loved music and learned to play the piano at an early age and the organ as a teenager. Jimmy continued his education at Wichita State University graduating in 1971. Upon finishing college, Jimmy joined the US Peace Corps. Jimmy served as a Peace Corps volunteer in South Korea from 1972-1974. Jimmy made many lifelong friendships during his service in South Korea. Upon returning from the Peace Corps, Jimmy became the keyboardist for the Andover Methodist Church and Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews in all their sporting activities. Jimmy was also an avid WSU Basketball fan and attended all the home games for many years. Jimmy enjoyed hosting Christmas family gatherings every year. The nieces and nephews always had some kind of surprise each year from Jimmy. Jimmy went to work for Beech Aircraft in 1975 and retired in 2010 after 35 years of working in parts special mission aircraft areas. In retirement, Jimmy enjoyed traveling and attending his Peace Corps reunions. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donnalea and Charles Haynes; nephew, Benjamin Roosevelt. He is survived by brothers, Darryl Haynes (Carly), Rocky Haynes (Susan); sister, JaNean Roosevelt (Charles); nephews, Aaron Roosevelt (Tanya), Kyle Roosevelt (Ted), Brent Haynes, Justin Haynes (Ashley), Hunter Haynes; and nieces, Katie Haynes and Emily Scott (Glenn); and seven great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday, December 20, 2024, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Graveside Service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Andover Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2025 at the Andover United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM. A memorial has been established with: Andover United Methodist Church, 1429 N. Andover Road, Andover Kansas 67002.
