She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Lucille (Girrens) Mainz; brother, Bill Mainz; and sister-in-law, Marge Mainz (Steve). Joan graduated from Andale High School and Sacred Heart College. She was an elementary teacher spending her last 17 years teaching at Christ the King School in Wichita, KS. After her retirement CKS named the lab the Joan Wesolowsky Computer Lab.

Joan, writing as Joan Vincent, was an historical author of over 14 published Georgian and Regency novels. These include the Honour series, Napoleonic spy mysteries. Joan was an amateur graphic artist doing work for her husband’s Knights of Columbus Council and TOPS KS 0985 for which she also kept the scrapbook. She loved growing and arranging flowers, sewing–especially pjs and nighties for the grandchildren, hand quilting, crocheting, and was an avid reader. • Joan always has a place in my heart…she lived with our family for a short time back in the 70s and I will never forget that time; she served as a role model in terms of her professionalism and dedication to teaching. As I envied her students in the classroom, I was actually learning a lot from her, too. I saw her optimism and perseverance as a strong working mom, devoting and dividing her time to both family and work. I also admired her tenacity…in spite of her health challenges, she was always stepping up to show up and cheer others on! Please accept my heartfelt condolences with love, Stacy
