Joan Lemon, 94, died peacefully Wednesday, May 8, 2024, with her family at her side. She was a loving wife of 65 years, a mother, a grandmother, and friend to many, dedicating her life to her husband, family, friends, and God. After growing up in Pawhuska, she started her career at the phone company then married the love of her life. Joan had many hobbies such as oil painting, ceramics, bowling, singing in church, teaching Sunday school and attending Club. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 23, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 24, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church, Pawhuska, OK. Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 pm at Pawhuska City Cemetery, Pawhuska, OK. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Johnnie H. Lemon, Jr.; parents, Charles and Lura Bookout; sisters, Bernice Vaugh, Marie Hollis, Mary White; brother, Chuck Bookout; and Avery (great grandchild to Jody). She is survived by her sister, Charlene Soard; daughter, Cathy Joan (Mark) Gross of Wichita, KS; son, Johnnie H. Lemon, III of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Jenna Joan (Douglas) Hill of Wichita, KS, Jamie Leigh (Andrew) Couey of Wichita, KS, Mark Ryan (Ashley) Gross of Wichita, KS; great-grandchildren, Grace Elaine, Clara Joan, Colton Jospeh and Liam Marx. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Alzheimer's Association, Central & Western Kansas, 535 West Douglas, Suite 150, Wichita, KS 67213. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.

  1. How can you choose one memory? I had so many with my aunt! Blessed to have her as an aunt, she had beauty and grace ❤️ She was always joking and laughing and a lot of times had us in stitches from it! Love my snicker candy aunt! I will miss her so much! Heaven has gained a beautiful soul. Sending prayers to the family for strength and love during this time
