Lohkamp, Joann, O. (Burdick), 83, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born to Henry and Josephine (Eschbach) Burdick on January 6, 1928 in Kansas City, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and 6 siblings; Henry Burdick, Elizabeth Murphy, Bernice Miller, Rita Hilts, Lt. Barney Burdick and Charles G. Burdick. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Francis D. Lohkamp of Wichita: brother; Donald (Joann) Burdick of Austin, TX: brother-in-law; Frank Murphy of Oklahoma City, OK: sons; Richard Lohkamp of Cheney, KS, Gregory (Rhonda) Lohkamp of Colwich, KS: daughters; Sheila (Robert) Hagemann of Olathe, KS, Janet (Mark) Howell of Leawood, KS: grandchildren; Damian Lohkamp, Layla Lohkamp, Kristina Hagemann, Christopher Lohkamp, Katharine Lohkamp, Carolyn Lohkamp, Stefanie Hagemann, Cameron Lohkamp, Nathan Lohkamp, Andrew Hagemann and many nieces and nephews. Joann worked as a registered nurse for St. Marys Hospital in Kansas City, St. Josephs Hospital in Wichita and as a Red Cross nurse serving on one of the first Bloodmobiles in Oklahoma. She also worked as the school nurse for Bishop Carroll High School and was a homemaker. She was an active bowler for 30 years at Seneca Bowl. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, visiting with anyone and going to the casino. She loved her grandchildren and will be remembered for her many “Joddyisms”. Visitation is 6:00 pm Sunday, directly followed by a 7:00 pm Rosary. Funeral Mass is 10:00 am Monday all at St. Peter the Apostle in Schulte, KS. Joann was always a pleasure to be with. Her smile and positive attitude was an inspiration to me. I was not around her very often but cherish those times. She will be missed.
