Velasquez, Joe E., 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and active member of Kechi United Methodist Church passed away Saturday, September 29, 2007. Visitation 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Downing Lahey East Chapel. Funeral service 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 3, 2007, Kechi United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn, son; Lee (Vivian) of Ark City, daughter; Elisa Balleau of Wichita, son; Tony (Susan) of Lees Summit, MO, grandchildren; Sarah, Ben and Anna Balleau and Frankie and Olivia Velasquez, brother; Harold (Lil) of Berryton, KS, sisters; Mary Velasquez and Betty Maricle of Derby as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was born in Anthony, KS on January 11, 1925 and served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked as a drafting engineer for Boeing and then retired from Kice Industries in 1990 and was a longtime member of the Lions Club.
