Clark, John Douglas, 78, retired plumber for Plumbers Fitters Local No. 387. He was born March 31, 1932 in Eldora, IA, to Eva and Marvin Clark and passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011. John graduated from high school in Waterloo, IA, then enlisted in the Army. He served two years in Kyushu, Japan. He joined the Plumbers and Fitters local 387 in Davenport, IA and served 13 years as their President. After retiring from the union, he moved to Wichita where he has resided for the last 20 years. John is preceded in death by parents; step-mother, Ruth Clark; son, Craig, and two step-brothers. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Verna Rae; children, Tony (Melissa) Clark, Debbie (Dave) Yancey, Cherly (Dale) Simerson, Kellie (Paul) Lyons, Valerie Book; step-children, Bryan Scott, Liz Scott, Lori (Charlie) Cartwright, Kimberly (Steve) Rospond; brothers, George (Carol) Clark, Charles Clark; sister, Diana (Neil) Slatternou; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church.
