He was married to and loved by Kathe Thompson for 43 years. John as a Navy Submariner, a US Sky Marshal, a DEA agent, a US Customs Criminal Investigator, the Deputy Director of the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC) and ended his career as the US Customs Miami Aviation Branch Chief in 1997. During his 32 years of service to the United States government he received many accolades, but the one he was most proud of was: “John Thompson always delivers what he promises.” John’s family includes Melissa Carlson and Daniel Boyer, Matthew and Robin Browne; his grandchildren, Scott and Sarah Carlson, Ella and Emma Browne; sisters, Jane Lemon and Nancy Judd; and his wife, Kathe Thompson. 1. I will always remember Uncle John as the only person my mother allowed at our dining table with a knife (or some sort of weapon) in his boot! Even at the pinnacle of his exciting (and dangerous!) career he was gentle, kind, brave and imminently honorable…also a wonderful storyteller. We are all blessed to have known him.

  2. Fair winds and following seas sailor. “Boatswain… Standby to pipe the side… Shipmate’s going Ashore…” Thank you John for your service to this nation. U.S. Navy, Submarine Service.
