John H. Weninger, M.D.
83, of Wichita, KS passed away January 15, 2016. Born to Clarence and Elizabeth Korte Weninger on June 11, 1932 on the farm where he spent his childhood, John attended a one room school in Oatville, KS and graduated from Oxford High School in 1950. He graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1954 and after studying at Creighton University, graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha College of Medicine in 1962. He was a family practitioner in Wichita for 44 years and was a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Practice, the Kansas Medical Society and the Sedgwick County Medical Society. In 1956 he married Ruth Youngers who preceded him in death in 2004. In 1986 he married Mariann McClellan who preceded him in death in 2011. John was a lifelong Model A Ford car enthusiast and a long standing member of the national and local (Wichita As) Model A Ford clubs. He loved restoring and driving Model A cars, attending swap meets, and touring in his cars. His other love was medicine and all it encompassed. He not only diagnosed and treated his patients, but he maintained lifelong relationships with many of them, having the second generation of some families in his practice. He is survived by his three children, Joan Roselle (Randy Willman) of Greeley, CO, Joyce Didde (David) of Leawood, KS, and Eric Weninger of Wichita; four grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Catherine Lampe of Kingman, KS, Marvin Weninger (Kay) of Knoxville, TN; sister-in-law, Pauline Weninger of Winfield, KS; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Jean Ellis for her friendship and care of John, especially during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Wichita As, P.O.
