John Paul Szelenyi, Jr., 76, retired United States Air Force Aircraft Mechanic and Maintenance Instructor for Flight Safety, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019. Rosary, 7 p.m., Friday, August 9; Funeral Mass, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Preceded in death by parents, Mary and John Szelenyi, Sr.; sister, Irene “Dolly” Gratowski. Survivors: wife, Catherine; sons, John Szelenyi III (Lisa), Christopher Szelenyi; brother, Joseph (Deborah) Szelenyi; sister, Theresa Tober; stepsons, Vincent (Angela) Tamerius, Andrew (LeAnn) Tamerius, Deano Tamerius; stepdaughter-in-law, Angela Smith; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Grampa was a very nice guy he made my son Tristyn a set of wooden cars and trucks for Christmas one year. He was always very nice and kind to my family every holiday and event I got to see him at he always told me a little advise on something. It was fun talking with grampa. I will always remember him for his jokes and smile he always had a good view on life. I will miss him whish he was here still. But hope he knows he made a good impression on me and my family.
