John Thurman Leach

Leach, John Thurman , 77, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 23 at Central Christian Church, 2900 N. Rock Road, Wichita, Kansas, 67226. John was born in Maroa, IL, July 27, 1929. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1951, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He moved to Wichita in 1960 to begin a life-long career in the Insurance business. He was an active member in Central Christian Church for over 35 years. John was very involved in many local civic organizations, including Wichita State athletics. John is preceded in death by his father and mother, Virgil and Margaret Leach, sisters, Mary Caroline Phelps and Ruth Aloia and brother, Charles Leach. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley, son, Doug and wife, Kim, and granddaughters, Alexa and Ashley of Houston, TX, son, Michael and wife, Jane, and grandsons, Ben, Will and Tommy of Overland Park, KS, brother, Jim Leach of Maroa, IL and sister, Marjorie Miller of Bowling Green, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Johns name to Central Christian Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
