Jones, Mary Frances (Coleman), 89, devoted mother, wife and friend, passed into eternal life on June 10th, after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. A Rosary will be held at Downing Lahey Mortuary East at 7:00 P.M., on Friday, June 13 and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Magdalen at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 14. Born in Newkirk, Oklahoma on December 18, 1918 to John Hoffman and Gertrude Coleman. Mary Frances moved to Wichita where she worked for the Federal Land Bank, played first violin in the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and later met and married her husband, Dick. Having five children over the next 16 years, including twins during WWII, Mary Frances stayed active in the Wichita community. She was President of the Junior League of Wichita, a member of the Board of Directors of the Wichita Historical museum and a member of the Altar Societies at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, where she was a long time member of the congregation. Mary had a great love for the symphony, Music Theatre, travel, gardening and needlepoint. Many of her retirement years were spent with family and friends at her cabin at Kaw Lake in Oklahoma. Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Richard “Dick” Jones, her oldest daughter, Mary Patricia Jones and her brother, Robert “Bob” Coleman. Mary Frances is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Anne “Betsy” Montolio (Jeff) of Olathe, KS, her sons, Steve (Kathy), Mike (Sue) all of Wichita, and Rich (Mary) of Lafayette, LA; brother, John Hoffman Coleman (Rosemary), sister-in-law, Betty Coleman; grandchildren, Tim (Jean), Chrissie Jones (Mark Bryce), Dan Jones (Susan), Rebecca Jones, Jamie Jones (Amy), Jenny Jones Anderson (Mike), Bridget Jones, Megan Montolio, Nick Montolio, Emily Jones and Ellen Jones; great-grandchildren, Cahill Anderson, Teddy Jones, Devon Bryce and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum, 204 S. Main St., Wichita, KS, 67202 or the Newkirk Public Library, 116 N. Maple, Newkirk, OK, 74647. A Rosary will be held at Downing Lahey Mortuary East at 7:00 P.M., on Friday, June 13.
