Joseph Austin Smith, Musician, Woodsman, and Plumber, died Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 30 years of age. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday January 30, 2023, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Central Christian Church; all are welcome to both events. Joe is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kip W. Smith, Mel “Babe” Galli. Survived by his parents, Kip II and Lisa Smith of Towanda, KS; brothers, Jared (Mandie) Smith, Jake (Aubrey) Smith, Jonathan Smith; sister, Kayla (Eric) Bing, all of Wichita; grandmothers, Sharlene Smith of Park City, KS, Donna Galli of Clearwater, KS; 4 nephews, 2 nieces; an entire city of loved ones; and his beloved dog, Lucille. A memorial has been established with: Central Christian Church, 2900 N. Rock Rd., Wichita, KS 67226.

My fondest memories of Joe are his infectious grin, loving personality, and ridiculously gifted bass playing and singing. Heaven has gained an awesome soul and he will be missed.
Joe will be missed dearly. I know Joe when he worked at Atwood and he was my manager. He always new how to make a bad day into a good day. All the memories that we had I can cherish them for a life time now.
