Joyce Elaine Johnson

Joyce Elaine Johnson, 76, passed away September 24, 2022, at Via Christi Village. She was born January 29, 1946, in Garden City, the daughter of Leo and Nadine Greenwood. Joyce was a graduate of the 1964 Class of Ensign High School. On October 11, 1964, she married her grade school sweetheart Russell Johnson at Ensign. She enjoyed working at Tandy’s Hallmark and for Tammy Davis Attorney at Law until she moved to Wichita to be closer with her kids & grandkids. She liked to sew, cross stitch, read and travel, especially her trips to visit her friend Tussi in Arizona. Joyce loved to spend time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time and talking on the phone with family and friends. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wichita, KS. Joyce is survived by her husband of 57 years, Russell Johnson of Wichita; daughter Jill Greenlee and husband Bruce of Wichita; son, Shane Johnson and wife Lori of Cheney; six grandchildren, Alyssa (Steve) James, Shelby Johnson, Katherine (Tim) Myrick, Caroline Greenlee, Nicholas Johnson, Alexander Johnson, & two great-grandchildren Paisley & Hope James; and one sister Gayla (Chuck) Fisher of Ensign. She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Nadine Greenwood and sister Phyllis Patton. A celebration of life will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Daniel Reffner. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
