Joyce Mary (Breit) Armstrong, went to be with her Lord, her Savior, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, December 8, 2015, while surrounded by her children. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 21, 1928 to Paul and Helen (Kisner) Breit. Joyce worked as a secretary for the USD 259 Central VoTech School. She retired in 1996 and became a “volunteer extraordinaire”, working at St. Francis Gift Shop, Botanica, St. Joseph Catholic Church as Eucharistic Minister and Riverside Village. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, John C. “Jack” Armstrong; brother, Kenneth Breit; sisters-in-law, Wanda Armstrong, Ruby Abel, and brother-in-law, Bob Armstrong. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Schreck (Brian), Linda Schauf (Bill), Debbie Towey (Kelly); sons, Bob Armstrong (Dana), Mark Armstrong (Theresa); devoted sister, Diana Breit Wolfe; brother-in-law, Fred Abel; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Rosary, 6:30 p.m., Friday, December 11, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West, 10515 W. Maple. Funeral Mass, 11 a.m., Saturday, December 12, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 145 S. Millwood. The family wishes to thank the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Inpatient Unit at Via Christi St. Francis for their tender and respectful care of their mother. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Joseph Catholic Church to honor Joyce’s lifelong love of her home parish.
