Julius Rohr, 94, retired barbershop owner, died Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Rosary will be at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary, 6555 E. Central, Wichita. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 29, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Church, 3205 E. Grand, Wichita.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mathias and Clara Rohr; brothers, Tony, Clarence, Alvin, Eugene; sisters, Irene, Mary Ann, Lorene; grandchild, Christopher Wren.

Survived by his wife, Mary Jane Rohr of Wichita; son, David (Roni) Rohr of Santa Fe, NM; daughter, Joan (Michael) Wren of Wichita; grandchildren, Rachael, Jacob (Kandace), Joshua (Emily), and Caleb (Ester) Wren, Matthew and Amy Rohr; 9 great-grandchildren.

Born on February 27, 1931, in Munjor, Kansas—a small Volga German farming community—he graduated from Hays High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 before moving to Wichita, where he attended barber college and later became the owner of Eastgate Barber Shop. Even after retiring, he continued giving haircuts well into his 90s.

He married Mary Jane Prickett in 1960, and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2025. His interests included traveling, maintaining a meticulously kept lawn, playing a competitive game of cards, and spending time with family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and his gift for entertaining others with jokes and stories.

Julius will be deeply missed and remembered for the life he lived, the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the legacy he left behind.
