June Eileen (Kelley) McGrath

June Eileen (Kelley) McGrath, who brought joy, laughter, compassion and an empathetic ear to all in her family and her legion of friends, died Tuesday, June 7, just short of her 89th birthday.
Born June 28, 1933, to Charles E. and Mae (Connor) Kelley, June attended Blessed Sacrament grade school, Cathedral high school and Wichita University. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Patrick; and sister, Mary Irwin.
A member of Sorosis sorority, June was introduced in 1951 during a fraternity function to Robert V. McGrath. The two married a year later and began a lifetime together, which included a busy household of four boys. She is survived by her husband and sons, Robert (Pam), Terry (Teresa), Tom (Sally), all of Wichita, and Dan (Maureen) of Overland Park, KS.
She also is survived by her grandchildren, Kelley (Brian) Horn of Leawood, KS, Bryan (Allison Cox) McGrath of Overland Park, Travis McGrath, Joe McGrath, both of Wichita, Lindsay (Cale) Armstrong of Lenexa, KS, Tommy McGrath of Roeland Park, KS, Jack McGrath, Molly McGrath, both of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Hanks, Michael and Mary Kelley Horn of Leawood, and Roman McGrath of Overland Park.
A longtime member of Crestview Country Club, June was an avid tennis player and golfer, who once bagged a hole in one. Active in Junior League of Wichita, Wit & Wisdom, Monicans Circle and Altar Society, she volunteered for many years at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Rosary will be 10:00 am, Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, Friday, June 10, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

June was one of the first people I met when I started playing tennis in Wichita. We had the best times! It’s been over 50 years of knowing this funny, smart, gracious lady. What joy she brought to my life.
