CHENEY, KS - Seiler, Karen Sue (Kerschen) Seiler,
62, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2020 in Cheney, KS after a valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. On July 17, 1982 she married Steve Seiler and they shared nearly 38 years of wedded bliss, raising children, running a business and making memories. Born on November 22, 1957, she was the daughter of Melvin and Martha Kerschen of Garden Plain, KS. She attended Emporia State University and graduated with an accounting degree. She worked for Don Albers CPA for 41 years. Karen was a member of the St. Rose Alter Society and could be found at the local golf course every Tuesday evening. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and took advantage of any holiday or celebration to host a party. She cherished trips to the “snow house” in Colorado. She is survived by Steve Seiler of Cheney, Megan (Brock) Kampling of Wichita, Chad (Maggie) Seiler of Mount Hope, and her grandchildren, Kinsley, Keagan, Brantley and another precious one arriving soon. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Kerschen; father in-law, Sylvester Seiler; brother, Larry Kerschen; sister in-law, Debbie Heimerman; brother in-law, Mark Seiler; and brother in-law, Shawn Ketzner. The rosary will be held on Thursday evening, July 9 at 7:00pm and the funeral service will be held on Friday, July 10 at 10am both at St. Rose Parish in Mount Vernon, KS. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Rose Parish Building Fund, 13015 E. Maple Grove Rd, Mount Hope, KS 67108. Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.
To Steve, Megan, Chad and all your families: We are so sorry to hear of Karen’s passing. She was a very special person to us and will never be forgotten. She always had a smile and laugh and was concerned of what was happening in our life as well. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
