Karl Solomon

Karl Solomon, 81, Owner and Operator of Karl Solomon Investments and Retired Real Estate Developer, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Visitation with the Family will be from 5:00 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 29, 2016; Funeral Service will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 1, 2016, both at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. Karl enjoyed hunting and sports of all kinds. He was the youngest person to become a licensed real estate agent in Kansas. Karl enjoyed much success in the real estate business, including the purchase and sale of farms, and the purchase, sale and leasing of commercial buildings. Creativity, an ability to see value and factors that others could not see, and persistence were the keys to his success. Karl was very fair and candid with people and was well respected. Karl enjoyed having the chance to deal with Frank Sinatra and Warren Buffet and other well-known people on various occasions. Karl was also charitable to many people. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Olive Solomon; son, Steven; and great-grandson, Daniel. Survived by his wife, Barbara Solomon; children, Cindy Farthing, Mark (Wynetta) Solomon, Anna Solomon, Richard (Pamela) Solomon; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Solomon, Jr. of Derby; sister, Rose Petersen of Eagle Rock, MO. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside St., Wichita, KS 67219.
