Stannard, Katherine, 83, passed away Saturday January 24, 2009. Memorial service will be 11:00AM Friday, January 30, 2009 at Plymouth Congregational Church. Katie was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Thomas and Grace Finney, brother, Dr. .Charles Finney, and sister Jean Strickland. She is survived by her husband Grant Stannard, sister Margaret Greenleaf, daughters Cindy (Norman) Forster and Cathy (Sands) Harris and five grandchildren, Sarah, (Rick), Carrie, Adam (Jennifer), William, and Alden. Katie was born in Wichita and attended Alcott; Robinson and graduated from Wichita East High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma before returning to Wichita to work. Katie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Being a natural and gifted hostess, both social and family events were always a pleasure to attend in her home. Katie was an avid duplicate bridge player, tennis player, community volunteer, and active in the Plymouth Church Guild. She enjoyed traveling the globe with beloved friends and taking family vacations that were filled with laughter. Being a sports fan, Katie enjoyed Nebraska football, WSU basketball and baseball. Katie was a member of Wichita Junior League, Zeta, Kappa Alpha Theta and Meals on Wheels. A memorial has been established with Rainbows United, Inc., 340 S. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67202.

  4. DEAR GRANT, I AM SO SAD TO LEARN OF KATY’S DEATH. SHE WAS A GREAT FRIEND WHEN I LIVED IN WICHITA MANY YEARS AGO. WE SPENT HAPPY HOURS TOGETHER TALKING ABOUT OUR LIVES AS WOMEN, WIVES, MOTHERS AND MEMBERS OF THE JUNIOR LEAGUE. I KNOW YOU MISS HER SMILES AND LAUGHTER.
