Florio, Katie Alayne (McCannon), 32, nurse, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Rosary 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Funeral Mass 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, Church of the Magdalen. Katie was a nurse with Via Christi St Francis and also Cleveland Elementary. Preceded in death by grandfather, Harold “Lefty” Budke and grandmother-in-law, Mary (Petermalo) Florio. Survivors: husband, Michael W. Florio; daughter, Chloe Florio, step-sons, Tyler Florio and Nicholas Florio, all of the home; parents, John and Cathy McCannon of Wichita; brothers, Randy McCannon of Wichita and Jeff McCannon of Natchitoches, LA; grandparents, Rosemary Budke, John “Jack” and Eileen McCannon, all of Ft. Madison, IA; parents-in-law, Frank and Etta Florio of Mulvane, KS. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Chloe Florio Trust Fund, c/o Central Star Credit Union, 101 N. Main, Haysville, KS, 67060 and the American Cancer Society, 818 N. Emporia, S-100, Wichita, KS, 67214. Rosary 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 8, Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

  2. My husband and I had the pleasure of knowing Katie while attending Wichita South High School. When I think of Katie, I automatically think of her amazing, beautiful smile. There was never a day or time that I remember her being down. Her spirit was always uplifting and bright. We pray for her family and close friends grieving at this time. May the Lord bring comfort and peace to you all and cover you with his almighty love.
