Cohlmia, Kay E., 74, retired Owner and President of Cohlmia Aviation, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009. Viewing will be 1:00 ~ 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 26 with the family present 7:00 ~ 9:00 P.M., at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Trisagion and Funeral Service 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 27, St. George Orthodox Christian Cathedral. Kay spent 47 years in aviation following a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force and military intelligence. Fostered by his entrepreneurial spirit, Kay pioneered the use of small business aircraft to provide courier services for the banking industry, and also established the first hub system for transportation of the United States mail. Kay lived a full life with many adventures. Kay loved life, his family and his friends. May his memory be eternal. Preceded in death by parents, Lee and Sumia Cohlmia. Survivors: JoAnn Harris of Wichita; daughter, Heather Cohlmia of Dallas, TX; sisters, Vivian Roberts and Nahia Farha (Ray), both of Wichita and Joyce Shadid (Ernest) of Norman, OK; brothers, A. Lee Cohlmia (Doris), and Dr. Jerry Cohlmia (Catherine) both of Wichita; many nieces and nephews. Memorials to: St. George Orthodox Christian Cathedral, 7515 E. 13th N., Wichita, 67206.
