Thompson, Keith Lewis, 89, retired farmer, died Saturday, October 4, 2008. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M., Sunday, October 12, at Downing Lahey Mortuary East. Celebration of Life will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 13, at First United Methodist Church. Keith was born August 18, 1919 in Wichita. Preceded in death by his parents, M. Edna and Jesse Thompson, brothers, Dwight and Kenneth Thompson, wife of 48 years, Rebecca Jane Thompson and wife, Joan Thompson. Keith was a partner in Thompson Turkey Farm with his parents and brothers. He graduated from East High School in 1937, was a long time member of Fairmount Congregational Church, currently he was a member of First United Methodist Church, a Shriner and a member of Kiwanis. In 1947 he graduated from KSU after serving during WWII in the Pacific theatre as a combat engineer. He had a love for acting, public speaking and music. Until recently, he participated as a re-enactor of William Matthewson and Uncle Sam at Cowtown. As a loving father and grandfather he is greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Mary Thompson. He is also survived by his son, Daniel Keith Thompson (Jill) and daughter, Gayle Elizabeth Thompson Morphis (Doug) of Wichita. Grandchildren include Acacia Erin Thompson of New York City, Alexis Olivia Michael of Sonoma, CA and Lee Daniel Thompson of Wichita, Keith Anthony Morphis of Seattle and Rebecca Margaret Morphis of Florence, Italy. Memorials have been established with Kansas State University Center for Basic Cancer Research, 1 Chalmer Hall, Manhattan, KS, 66506-3901 and Cowtown Museum, 1865 Museum Blvd, Wichita, KS, 67203.
