Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, Keith Scott Befort went to be with the Lord at age 63, on December 19, 2020. He was born in Great Bend, KS on July 11, 1957 to Cy and Clara Befort. Keith was a lover of riding the open road on his Harley as well as honoring our Veterans by riding in the Patriot Guard. Keith was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Keith, a member of KIOGA, worked in the oil field industry for over 40 years. He was well known and respected in the business and was the guy everyone called for advice on numerous types of jobs. His expertise will be missed. Keith began his oil field career with Halliburton as a grease monkey and worked his way up to a Field Consulting Supervisor with T & C Manufacturing and Operating, Inc. He worked up until the day of his illness. Keith will be fondly remembered by family and friends as the cleanest person you will ever meet. He was a worry wart who worked hard every day of his life and took pride in everything he had. He was a soft-hearted man who didn’t know a stranger. He loved his family immensely and enjoyed fishing and swimming with his grandbabies. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Annette Befort of Wichita, KS; children, Teri (Jared) Glenn of Cunningham, KS and Brandi (Kevin) Warren of Windsor, CO; four grandchildren, Gunner, Mackley, Kinsley, and Cason; brother, Curt (Janice) Befort; sisters, Nancy McCleary and Wanda (Scott) James, all of Wichita. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Cy and Clara Befort; and three brothers, Al, Jim, and Kenny Befort. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 27, 2020; Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, Monday, December 28, 2020, both at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. The services will be Live Streamed through the church’s Facebook and YouTube pages. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105; or St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 3642 N. Ridge Rd., Wichita, KS 67205. Services in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.

Guestbook

  1. So sorry to hear of Keith’s passing. My sincerest condolences to his wife, children and grandchildren. Blessings to all. Diana Pilger Keck, Windsor, Colorado

  2. My deepest sympathy to all of Keith’s family and friends. I met Keith when he came to work for T&C. He was absolutely one of the nicest people I have ever met. He always had time for me when I had a question. People with the character that Keith had are so rare and time with them should be treasured. He will be missed greatly and remembered fondly.

  3. Remembering Keith’s wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace and live on within the memories of his loved ones. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

  4. Annette, Teri and Brandi – we are so very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and your families. He was such a nice guy and will be missed by many. Blessing as you cope with this great loss. Ron and Patty Boline

  5. I have a lot of memories of Keith as well Annette, Teri and Brandi. We lived down street from each other at times. Same industry. When ever someone asked me about Keith I’d just tell them he would never lie or cover up or lay blame on anyone else. He was truly a very fine gentleman in the truest since. He will be missed by so many. A funny story. Joanie, myself, Keith and Annette went skiing together at Red River many years back. Keith had never skied. At the end of the day he stated that this sure was hard a persons ankles. Said he just wasn’t getting it . Looked at his ski boots. He had never locked in the back of his boot. He had a lot better day the following day. Keith was always great to just be around. So sorry for all the Befort clan. World would be a much better place if more “Keith Befort’s .

  6. Oh, Annette, our hearts are broken for you & your family. We’re so very sorry about Keith’s illness and passing. So many prayers for comfort and peace. Frank & Marcy Allbritten

  7. My sincere sympathy to all of Keith’s family and friends. I got to know Keith when he started working at T&C MFG & Operating, Inc. We had numerous talks about our shared hobby of the Harley Davidson……. the trips, the journey’s, the love of the ride. Through our visits I told him I had worked with his brother, Jim and his dad, Cy for years with Orscheln……….I soon found out he had the same big, kind heart as they did and was always a pleasure to work with. Keith will be deeply missed by so many and we will all cherish those memories.

  8. I will miss you more than I can say. Your genuine kindness and concern for everyone you met. How much you loved your family. I will miss all of those long conversations we had when you were driving back home from far away. I will miss all the lunches we shared. I will miss bouncing things off of each other about family, finances, politics and tons of things. You were “One of kind”. I have a hole in my heart that can never be filled. Until we meet again my Dear sweet brother. It will be so hard to be without you… All my Love forever. Proud to be your sister. Wanda

  9. A Christian has gone home to the waiting arms of God. Even in the midst of sorrow, may your hearts rejoice in the glorious hope of Heaven. With sincere sympathy.

  10. I remember how welcoming you, Annette and Brandy were when I moved into the neighborhood, and how supportive you were after we had Kamp and he had to stay in the NICU for so long. I loved our joint vacation to Mexico and was so looking forward to going again with you all. I will miss your friendship so much. Jennifer Diekmann

  11. I’m so sorry to see this today.. I met Keith and Annette at Freddy’s when we shared a table and discovered our common love of motorcycles … he later would stop by and get a haircut and sometimes we would see each other out on our Harleys … my sincerest condolences to the family … I really enjoyed getting to know him … he was a good one

  12. Although years older than Keith, I watched my brother grow up and was always so proud of his loving spirit and how he projected that to family, friends and others. He was always there if I or someone needed him to help them in any way. He was totally dedicated to his family, thru God, hard work, happy times and love of life. Keith had many friends and aquaintences, a sense of adventure( especially on his Harley), a Great love of Country and the biggest heart I’ve ever known! But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness. Galatians 5:22. That was my Brother throughout his life! I love him with all my heart and was so blessed to be his sister, and will miss him terribly…..Nancy

  13. Annette – My condolences to you & your family on Keith’s passing. I’m sure he will be missed by all who shared his passion for the open road. Jim Holcomb
