Ken Schmedeman

Schmedeman, Ken, 84, loving husband, father, and proud grandfather, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015. Born December 9, 1930 in Herington, KS, Ken was a family man through and through. He loved coaching his childrens numerous sports and supporting his grandchildren in all their endeavors. Always an active member of his church, Ken was an avid WSU Shockers fan. After 42 years with Beech Aircraft as a manager of the Technical Writers, Ken retired to enjoy life with his wife and family, fishing and boating at his lake house in Council Grove, KS. Preceded in death by his parents, Smitty and Frieda Schmedeman. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna; children, Pam (John) Burkholder and Dan (Agi) Schmedeman, both of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Phyllis Kemper; and 8 grandchildren. Family, friends, and others whose lives Ken touched are invited to join us Friday, June 26, 2015 at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary for visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at University United Methodist Church, with a light lunch to follow. A graveside service will continue at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Herington, KS at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with University United Methodist Church, 2220 N Yale Ave., Wichita, KS 67220; or Victory In The Valley, Cancer Hospitality Center, 3755 E.
