Kenneth Lee Klufa, 78, middle school teacher, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020. Visitation with the family present, 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 19, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. Funeral Service, 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, at Northwest Christian Church. Kenneth played football (cornerback) at Bethel College from 1959-1963, was the womens high school basketball coach of the year for Marysville High School, and coached track, volleyball and baseball as well. He was on the board of the Orange Army Booster Club back in the late 1980s for the Wichita Wings indoor soccer team, enjoyed gardening, fishing, anything associated with his grandkids and spending time with his family. Kenneth enjoyed traveling through ACAP to Alaska, Hawaii and to Europe, notably England and Switzerland. He was a member of Air Capital (ACAP), Kansas National Education Association (KNEA) and volunteered through Northwest Christian Church in Wichita. Preceded in death by his father, Ed Klufa; mother, Berta Nicholson; brother, Gary Klufa; sister, Kay Wilson, and stepfather, C.E. “Nick” Nicholson. Survivors: wife, Mary; daughter, Nicki (Bob) Albert; son, Derek (Sonni) Klufa; brothers, Clayton (Mona) Nicholson, Brad Nicholson; grandchildren, Payden, Ella and Kale (fiancée, Aubrey) Klufa, Mia, Micah and Lizzie Albert.   1. It was always such a pleasure visiting Ken. From giving each other a hard time to some serious college sports banter. I will always remember Kens bright smile and blue eyes! 💙

  2. We were so sorry to hear about Ken’s passing. Our sympathies to you and the family. We are sure he would have throughly enjoyed this New Wings team and we miss you all very much. We remembered our trip to Hawaii that our old section 113 did. We had a blast and I know that Ken and Ron did as well. Our little group has gotten smaller over the years but there will always be a section 113 ” Peter’s Party on the Prairie”. Now he, Ron and Doc West are up there booking us all passage on that cruise ship in the sky.
