Kiela Jean (James) Ross

On Sunday, December 11, 2022, Kiela Jean (James) Ross-loving wife and mother of two sons - passed away at the age of 75. Kiela was born in Abilene, Kansas, but moved around throughout her childhood, including to Hawaii when she was a young girl. Kiela met the love of her life, Mark, through a mutual friend and she knew from the beginning that he was the one. She would proudly tell everyone that she chased him across the country and back to make sure she didn’t lose him. Ever the night owl, Kiela worked for Southwestern Bell for over 20 years as a night manager and third shift switchboard operator. She retired from Southwestern Bell when her youngest son, Andy, was born, and was his fiercest protector and advocate. Kiela was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Maxine James; and her loving husband, Mark Ross. She is survived by sons, Joseph and Andrew; sisters, Karen James and Kathy (Ken) Ozbun; nieces, nephews, cousins; and numerous friends.The funeral service will be December 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Joan S. Beren Wichita Jewish Community Center followed by interment at the Congregation Emanu-El section of Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to KETCH, 1006 S Waterman St, Wichita KS, 67211. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
