It is with profound sorrow and deep respect that we announce the passing of Kingsley Abdul-Rasheed Adolphus Ukachi Njoku, who left this world peacefully on August 22, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas. Born on July 11, 1954, in the city of Zaira, Nigeria, Kingsley lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love.
Kingsley was born to the late Boniface and Juliana Njoku, who nurtured his early years with wisdom and care. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla Njoku, with whom he shared many years of loving companionship and mutual support. Together, they built a family foundation rooted in values, integrity, and love. He is survived by his devoted wife, Priscilla, his cherished children: Uchechukwu, Mariam, Rahma, Mishal, Amira, and Christine, and grandchildren: Melia, Samir, Amaya, Ifeoma, Azaria, Havyn, Nuha, Musa, Amir, and Azuri.
Kingsley also leaves behind a loving extended family, including his siblings: Anna, Maria, Godwin, Patricia, Lilian, Euginia, Abigail, OC, Henry, Augustina, and Rose Mary. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he in theirs.
A man of remarkable intellect and knowledge, Kingsley obtained Bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Islamic Studies from King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia and also holds Associate's degrees in Nursing and Bible Ministry. His educational pursuits laid the foundation for a lifetime dedicated to helping others.
During the turbulent years of the Nigerian Civil War from 1967 to 1970, Kingsley served his nation with honor in the Navy. His sense of duty and commitment to service continued as he embarked on a 40-year career as a nurse, where his compassion and expertise touched innumerable lives. He retired in 2016 and remained a pillar of support and wisdom to those around him.
Kingsley was not just a man of science and service, but also a man of faith and charity. A Partner in Hope member of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, he contributed to the greater good and inspired others to do the same. His interests were as varied as his accomplishments; a lover of languages and words, he was fluent in English, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Swahili, Arabic, Spanish, and French. His linguistic prowess was a testament to his love for diverse cultures which led to decades of service as a diplomat for the Nigerian embassy and a translator for the county of Los Angeles, California.
Those who knew Kingsley will remember him as a decisive, confident, and influential individual. He was a person who made decisions with assertiveness and guided others with a steady hand. His presence was commanding yet comforting, a combination that made him a respected and beloved figure in his community.
A celebration of Kingsley's life will take place on September 28, 2024, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary, with services commencing at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to his spouse, Priscilla Njoku, to honor his legacy of love and support.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their support, generosity, and prayers during this time of grief. Your kindness has been a source of comfort and strength.
