Larry A. Chambers

Chambers, Larry A., 64, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Regent Park Rehab surrounded by family. Rosary will be at 7:30 P.M., Monday, December 9, 2013, Family Visitation will follow; Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 10, 2013, both at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Larry was born October 16, 1949 in Newton, KS, the eldest of 3 boys. He was a lifetime resident of Wichita graduating Kapaun High School in 1967, and graduating from WSU in 1971. Larry and his wife, Susan, were married September 3, 1977. He enjoyed playing golf, vacationing with his family in Colorado, and was an enthusiastic supporter of basketball. Larry was President of Slawson Development until his retirement in 2007. He was a well-respected member of the Wichita Area Builders Association and broker of Slawson Real Estate. During his career, Larry was instrumental in the development of many new home subdivisions throughout the Wichita area. Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Jean Chambers; and father-in-law, Herbert Albers. Survived by his loving and caring wife, Susan; three children, Dana Chambers of Los Angeles, CA, Thomas Chambers of Denver, CO, and Kara Chambers of Los Angeles, CA; siblings, Steve and Daniel (Pat) Chambers, both of Wichita; nieces and nephews, Aaron (Lori) Chambers of Pennsylvania, Derick (Melissa) Albers of St. Louis, Megan (Andrew) Livingston of Houston, TX; aunt, Sue Grove of Wichita; mother-in-law, Gladys Albers of Wichita.
