Larry Clayton Kautz

Larry Clayton Kautz, age 86, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on May 11, 2025. He was born in Atchison, Kansas, on November 27, 1938, to Lawrence and Marie (Bruns) Kautz. Larry graduated from North High School in 1957 and proudly served in both the U.S. Navy and Army Reserve, including time aboard submarines and minesweepers. He retired from Beech Aircraft in 2001. Larry was a proud American who deeply valued his military service. He enjoyed photography, traveling, and especially spending time with his family at the dinner theater. He was a member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Wichita. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Martha Ilene (Waterman) Kautz; daughter, Kristie (JJ) Vogelsberg of Overland Park; grandsons, Keaton and Kaden Vogelsberg; sister, Linda (Kautz) Hawk; brother, James (Sharon) Kautz; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Evelyn Kautz; and his brother-in-law, Kim Hawk. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 6770 E. 34th St. N, Wichita, KS 67226. Graveside service with military honors and flag presentation will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1806 N. Oliver St., Wichita, KS 67208. Lunch and fellowship will be held afterward at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Larry’s name. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
