Larry David Mitnaul, Sr., age 67, was a retired Veteran, loving father and grandfather, devoted husband, and pastor. He transitioned to his heavenly home Wednesday, September 11, 2024. He was born in Newark, NJ, the fourth of six brothers, and through his early years developed his natural gifts of music (singing and percussion), oration, and performance. He attended Rutgers University where he met his beautiful bride, Yvonne, and then joined the United States Army. While active duty, he acquired numerous commendations. Their family grew as they moved through duty stations, including Georgia, New York, and three tours in Germany. He pastored several churches including congregations in Fort Drum (New York), Peden Gospel Service (Germany), and Camp Humpreys (Korea). They ultimately settled in Central Texas where he retired from military service. He transitioned his skills to DynCorp Aerospace Technology and Lockheed Martin before his second retirement. His intimate involvement in church and his children’s school events made him a “parent” to many. In 2022, he and Yvonne moved to Wichita, Kansas to be near the majority of their children and grandchildren - his pride and joy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Gloria Mitnaul; brothers, Frank L., Elijah W. and Anthony Mitnaul; and granddaughter, Melany Mitnaul. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Mitnaul; brothers, Garry (Adrienne) Mitnaul and Desmond Thomas, Sr.; children and their families: Larry, Jr. (Katie) Mitnaul and their children, Micah, Dominic, Evan, Joel, Lucy, and Madolyn Mitnaul; Garry (DeCarmen) Mitnaul; Senaah (Isaac) Railey and their children: Isaac Jr., Aden, Archange, and Anna Railey; Isaiah (Patricia) Mitnaul and several foster grandchildren; his aunt, Essie Armstrong and a host of loving family and friends. Our hearts are heavy, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.The funeral will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary, 6555 E. Central, Wichita, KS 67206. Visitation will be at 9:30 am, followed by a service at 10:30 am. He will be honored at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Winfield that afternoon. We appreciate your prayers and support during this difficult time.

    • My deepest condolences to the Mitnaul family, especially you Yvonne. You two truly were soul mates. I am happy that Larry got to see all his kids rise and shine. He left a beautiful legacy and I expect even greater things from the Mitnauls.

  3. My heart is broken.
My big brother was always one of my greatest examples of stout and upstanding manhood. The way he loved his wife and children, his friends, and family was always a source of inspiration. A true king, he will be sorely missed.

  4. Larry I remember the first time we met in 1999. You came to our field site in Brownsville Tx to evaluate my Bn logistics. Till we meet again I love you my Brother from the bottom of my heart. CSM TONY SANTOS signing off. 🙏

  5. Mr. Mitnaul, you were such a blessing to this world, which I primarily experienced through your beautiful children, especially Larry & Katie and your grandkids by them. I am sure you’re singing with the choir of angels in peace and glory now. May you and all the faithful departed rest in peace.

  6. My brother and a dear friend for many years. I would like to thank you forever and your family for sharing my brother with us the body of Christ and the Christian House of Prayer. You have taught me so much about family and honor of parents and I shared that word with my children and have been blessed by that word and will always share our conversation with other men and your legacy will live beyond the grave. Rest in peace Deacon Price
