Larry Barnes, aged 64, passed away on April 29th, 2024. He was born on May 15th, 1959, in Wichita, Kansas to Madelyn Marie & Arthur Elton Barnes. Larry was a lifelong resident of Wichita, Kansas, where he graduated from East High School and formed lifelong friendships with the "College Hill Gang". His career in construction spanned from Foreman to accomplished Structural Engineer. His pride in his work was evident everywhere he went, often sharing stories of the buildings he had helped design. Larry led a life characterized by his unwavering dedication to his career and family. He worked tirelessly, pouring his heart and soul into everything he did, and was always willing to pass on knowledge or lend a helping hand. His family was his priority, and he selflessly devoted himself to their well-being, always there when they needed him most. His most cherished title was "Papa" or affectionately "Papa Ponytail." He was happiest when pursuing one of his passions: riding his Harley, hunting, shooting, fishing, and spending time on the family farm in Oklahoma. Above all, he took immense pride in his two daughters and their families. His infectious laughter filled every room, often sparked by his beloved dad jokes. He had a love for playing loud music, with favorites like the Eagles, Joe Cocker, The Rolling Stones, and Sheryl Crow - a passion that very well could have contributed to his hearing loss in later years, a fact his daughters affectionately teased him about when he asked for "low and slow" repetitions of phrases. He is survived by his two children, Hailli Barnes, her partner, Kayleigh and their children, Isabella, Lorenzo, and Zaiden, and Madison Smith, her husband, Branden, and their children, Jaxen, Josie, and Jentry, and his sister, Brenda Montoya and her husband, Buck. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Elton & Madelyn Marie Barnes. Larry Lynn Barnes will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. We take comfort in knowing that Larry's unwavering commitment to Christ throughout his life assures us of his place in heaven, we'll see him again one day. Please join us for a Celebration of Larry’s life on Saturday, June 29th, at 1PM at Eberly Farm in Wichita, KS. Snacks and refreshments will be served until 4PM.
