Dale, LaVerne L., 87, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Laverne was a retired AT T and Southwestern Bell communications employee and a veteran of World War II having served with the 304th Signal Operations Battalion attached to the 8th Army Headquarters. Visitation with the family, 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, January 21, Downing Lahey Mortuary West. Service, 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 22, First Presbyterian Church, 525 N. Broadway. Preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Elsie; brother, Kenneth; first wife, Marguerite. Survivors: wife, Iris; stepsons, Daniel Edwards of Topeka, KS, Alan Edwards of Carpentersville, IL; daughters, Pamela Montre of Winston-Salem, NC, Deborah Hupf (Gary) of Wales, WI, Gayla Kobialka (Jan) of Woodbridge, VA; sister, Darlene Nutt (Bernard) of Cedaredge, CO; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. Memorial established with Central Prairie RCD Honor Flight, 1817 16th St., Great Bend, Ks 67530.

I never met Mr. Dale during his life, but I saw the photo along with his obituary in the paper. His picture alone made me smile and think what a wonderful man he must have been. I am very sorry for your loss of such a good man. I will remember him in my prayers.
I want to extend my heartfelt sympathy to Gayla, Deb and the entire family. Having known LaVerne for over 35years would take alot of time to sum up. I do know thru his years of work he was dedicated and hard working and had a ‘plan’ . Summers were a blast with Gayla, her dad and Marguerite at Marion Lake—he let us by with alot! Many memories to have that is for sure. He meant alot of things to others, so he will be missed in many ways. Peace be with you all at this time.
