Lawrence Colton

Lawrence Colton, 82, died Sunday, November 28, 2021, at his home in Wichita, Kansas. He was born August 1, 1939, in Ellsworth, Kansas, to George Francis Colton and Iva Rowena (Munson) Colton. Larry graduated from Hays High School in 1959. He joined the Air Force in 1961 and he was stationed in El Paso, Texas. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and moved to Oakley, Kansas. He married Rose (Meerian) Colton on June 1, 1968. Larry was an auto mechanic and worked at Fisher’s Transmission for over 25 years. He had an extraordinary knowledge and appreciation of cars. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR races. For the last few months, Larry loved spending his days with friends at Catholic Charities Adult Day Services. Larry is survived by his wife, Rose Colton, Wichita, KS; two daughters, Kelly James (Kendal James), Wichita, KS, Lara Colton (Ryan Sanders), Seattle, WA, and grandson, Landon James. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Charles, Kenneth, and Darrel. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 4, at Catholic Charities Adult Day Services, 2235 W. 37th St. N. in Wichita. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Adult Day Services, 2235 W. 37th St. N., Wichita, KS 67204 or Beauties and Beasts Animal Rescue, 114 S.
