Lawrence Larry Monckton

Lawrence "Larry" Monckton, 86, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born in Wichita, Kansas, on July 19, 1930, and was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Helen Margrett. Following his Marine Corps stint, he returned to Wichita and built his career at Star Lumber & Supply. Starting with broom in hand, and finishing 43 years later as Vice President of Building Materials. He was unimpressed by the materialistic noise of this world, giving all his love to his family, his faith and his love of sports. Rosary, 7 p.m., Thursday, June 22; Funeral Mass, 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 23, both at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wichita. Also preceded in death by grandson, Matt Kimbrel, and son-in-law, Dean Riepe. Survivors: children, Pam (Kelly) Kimbrel of Georgetown, TX, Cheryl Riepe of Wichita, KS, Connie (Tim) Boose of Georgetown, TX, Tom (Patti) Monckton of Wichita, KS, Doug (Angie) Monckton of Belton, TX; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
