  1. Kathleen, Bruce and David, Our thoughts are with you during this time. We have both lost our fathers and mothers and know what you are experienceing. Hang tough. Jack and Nancy Gumb

  2. My husband and I now live in Wichita, but from ’73 through ’87 when four of our six children were at WSU, we lived in Olathe. This meant a lot of weekend driving for such events as Parents’ Day, Homecoming, etc. Usually there was a dinner at the college involved, and one year we were privileged to have your husband as our host. We had never felt more welcome or at home — he kept the conversation going, and since both of us were in education, his stories really hit thr spot. I do recall his apologizing for eating so slowly, but said he had nearly choked to death once on a piece of meat. A fellow diner realized his problem and used the Heimlich maneuver on him, saving his life. I think we all owe that person a great debt of gratitude for saving such a kind and wonderful educator and friend. I am glad he lived many more years to teach and enjoy life!

  3. Dave, You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I always so enjoyed conversations with your dad, the professional ones and the personal ones. May your faith, family and friends comfort you.
