Lillie Marie (Paquette) Emrich

Lillie Marie (Paquette) Emrich, 95, passed away on July 15, 2016. Marie was born on a farm near Miltonvale, Kansas on September 22, 1920 to Louis and Belle (Barber) Paquette. She attended country grade school at Hays, District Number 36, Cloud County, Kansas, and graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School with the class of 1938. During her high school days, she was cheerleader and active in many school activities. She married Paul H. Emrich in Wichita on September 26, 1940. To this union was born four boys, Eric Paul, Michael Kent, Douglas Brent and Kipton Louis. All survive her except Eric Paul. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed a successful career in real estate sales and furniture retail sales. Her work life consisted of time at Boeing and Beech Airplane Companies during World War II, and in later years, she worked at Brooks, Macys and Dillards department stores. Marie created many beautiful hand-sewn quilts and braided rugs. She was active in parish life at St. Francis of Assisi in Wichita and was beloved of her many friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Belle (Barber) Paquette; sister, Aileen; brothers, Melvin and Connie, and her son, Eric Paul. She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Paul; sons, Michael, Douglas and Kipton, and her sister, Barbara. Rosary, 7 p.m., Monday, July 18; Funeral Mass, 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Miltonvale Cemetery, Miltonvale, KS. Arrangements by Downing & Lahey Mortuary West.
