Logan Philip Matzeder, 17, of Wichita, KS died June 23, 2021, at the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He was born April 4, 2004 to Susan and Leo Matzeder in Wichita. Logan was a student at Wichita East High School. Logan loved spending time with his family, friends and his pets. He was an avid sports enthusiast and kept himself active playing a number of different sports. He played soccer with the Rush, basketball with the Legends as well as numerous YMCA sporting teams. He loved driving his friends around in his car. He was a self-motivated young man, teaching himself to do back flips and play songs on the piano. Logan is survived by his parents, Susan and Leo Matzeder, Jr.; his brothers, Leo III and Lane; his sister, Lexie; grandfather, Earl D. Goetz; uncles, Troy (Cathy) Goetz, Jeff (Suzi) Goetz, Lee (Tina) Matzeder; aunts, Carmen Goetz, Claudia Farley, Sherry Thomas; and cousins, Emma Goetz, Jaycelyn Goetz, Zachary Goetz, Sally Goetz, Caleb Goetz, Michael Goetz, Stephanie (Andrew) Huddleston, Karlee Matzeder, Mikenna Matzeder, Jason Thomas, and Crystal Farley. Logan is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Carol Ann Goetz, Verna Louise Matzeder; and grandfather, Leo Paul Matzeder. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Rosary will be at 10:00 am, Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am, July 2, 2021, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery. Memorials and donations may be made in Logan’s name to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, 551 N. Hillside, Ste. 100, Wichita, KS 67214; American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
