Loren Sonny Watson

Watson, Loren A. “Sonny”, 81, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2005 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital. He is in the hands of our Lord. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Kay and Dwight Lowther, a young sister, Joyce and an infant brother, Donald. In his active years he was an attorney, graduating from K.U. School of Law in 1951. He practiced law for a brief time, but he loved the oil fields and was President of Watson Petroleum, Inc. He served as Municipal Court judge, Conscientious objector judge and President of Young Republicans Club. He was very active in politics. He served in World War II as a U. S. Navy pilot and flight instructor. Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Jo and family, daughters Debra Kiser and Diane and husband Bill Spunaugle all of Wichita; grandchildren, Cody Kiser of Minneapolis, MN, Brian Spunaugle and Stephanie Spunaugle both of Wichita. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Hynes Hospice Center at Via Christi, St. Francis, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS, 67202 and St James Episcopal Church, 3750 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS, 67208. Memorial services at St. James Episcopal Church, on Thursday, January 20, at 11:00 A.M. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
