Cheek, Lorna D. (Zillgitt), 95, secretary for Wichita Public Schools, USD 259, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007. Service 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 31, St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Earl Allen Cheek and son, Reverend Paul Cheek. Survivors: daughter, Nancy Bailey (George) of Wichita; grandchildren, Alan Bailey (Shelby) Albuquerque, NM and Beth Swafford (Michael) of Edmond, OK; great-grandchildren, Christina Thomas (Mitchell) and Ashley Swafford, all of Edmond, OK and Ryan Bailey of Ft. Worth, TX; sister, Maxine Evans of Spokane, WA. Memorials have been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 4218 SE Blvd., Wichita, KS, 67210 and St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 7404 Killarney, Wichita, KS, 67206. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.

Nancy, my mother (Opal Crow) sent the obituary of your mother to me from the Wichita paper. My….she had a very long life! My mother just turned 89, is living in an independent living apt. in Colorado Springs near my brother, and doing quite well. I live in Ft. Myers, FL. and just retired from teaching elementary music for 35 years. Pat (Mellor) Potts and I email back and forth, and we also correspond with Marcy Alexander by email every so often. Marcy is in Calif. doing art work and has recently married! I plan on going to East HS 50th reunion in Aug. 2008.
