Lorrie Joan Gallagher

Lorrie Joan Gallagher, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away on June 8, 2025, at the age of 69, in Wichita, Kansas, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on November 18, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, Lorrie’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her boundless capacity for love.
Lorrie’s early years in Baltimore laid the foundation for a life filled with adventure and service. Her career took flight as a dedicated flight attendant for Delta Airlines, where she not only ensured the safety and comfort of passengers but also shared her infectious smile and kindness with countless individuals across the skies. Later, she continued her journey of service as a para-educator for the Andover School District, where she touched the lives of many students and educators with her patience and wisdom.
Family was the cornerstone of Lorrie’s world. She is preceded in death by her husband, John “Skip” Gallagher; mother, Joan Charles; brother, Stewart Funk; and stepmother, Carmel Funk. She is survived by her father, Robert Funk; stepsisters, Kathi Kortz and Pat Gillespie; daughter, Erin Eilert (Michael Eilert); and her grandchildren, Carter, Kaitlyn, and Corbin.
Lorrie’s love story with her late husband, John “Skip” Gallagher, was one of true partnership and mutual respect. Together, they raised their daughter, Erin Eilert, who, along with her husband Michael, gave Lorrie the joy of being a grandmother to Carter, Kaitlyn, and Corbin Eilert. Lorrie’s role as a grandmother was one she embraced with every fiber of her being, spoiling her grandchildren with time, attention, and love.
Lorrie’s life was rich with interests and hobbies that reflected her vibrant spirit. She was an active member of her bible study group, finding strength and community in her faith. Traveling was one of her passions, and she took every opportunity to explore new places. At home, she could often be found watching movies with a bowl of buttered popcorn or lost in the pages of a good book, always ready to share the stories with her family and friends.
Those who knew Lorrie will remember her as a faith-filled woman whose actions spoke of her deep belief in kindness and compassion. She was selfless in her care for others, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her loving nature was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she has left behind.
Lorrie’s presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her memory will be a guiding light, reminding us all to live with love, generosity, and a faith that can move mountains.

I met Lorrie towards the end of her faith filled journey here on earth. She mentioned to me two evenings prior to her passing while we shared the Lord and his faithfulness to one another, she said “I can only imagine what it will be like when I see Jesus face to face… will I run to him or fall to the ground? When she left her earthly body I believe she was dancing with Jesus singing and smiling. She was a dear loving soul. Lord Jesus bless the legacy of love that she will always be a part of!
I met Lorrie while we were both with Delta. We used to bid our schedules together for many years and were great friends. She was one of the sweetest, kindest people that I’ve ever known. I saw firsthand day in and out her professional work ethic and her willingness to always help others. May your family be comforted at this difficult time. I am so thankful that the Lord made her a part of my life here on this earth.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Lorrie and her family for 50+ years. She was the most warm hearted and loving person you could ever meet. My heart is so saddened and we spoke frequently up until a few days before her passing. I will always cherish our friendship and the many memories throughout the years. May God always be by your side.
In memory of my best friend and an amazing human being. I will remember you always and all the special times that we shared. May God watch over you.
