Luella Huson, a faithful servant of the Lord, passed away on July 23, 2025. Born on March 16, 1929, in Chandler, Oklahoma, Luella lived a long and fulfilling life rooted in compassion and care for others.

On January 21, 1951, Luella married the love of her life, Charles Dale Huson. Their marriage was a true partnership of over 60 years, marked by shared faith, family, and joy, until Dale’s passing on November 11, 2011.

Professionally, Luella was employed in the payroll department at Boeing, but her most treasured role was that of a loving housewife and dedicated mother. She poured herself into her family, taking special pride in raising her daughters with warmth, guidance, and unwavering love.

A longtime member of several church communities—First Baptist Church in Derby, Sunnyside Baptist Church in Wichita, and Countryside Christian Church in Wichita—Luella was a woman of deep and enduring faith. She and Dale were especially involved in the Serving Doubles Sunday School Class at Countryside Christian Church, where they found community and spiritual growth. Luella was also a committed student of the Bible and a longtime member and treasurer of the Christian Women’s Club.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Luella and her family traveled across more than 45 states, creating lifelong memories on camping vacations. She loved hosting family gatherings and made her home a place of comfort and celebration. Her heart for caregiving was immense—Luella was a steady presence at the hospital bedsides of loved ones, a voice on the phone to check in, a warm meal delivered, or a faithful friend offering company in difficult times.

Selfless, gentle, and gracious, Luella lived out her faith in the quiet ways she served those around her. Her love and compassion have left a lasting impact on her family and all who were blessed to know her. A life well-lived, Luella’s memory will continue to inspire love, kindness, and faith for generations to come.

Luella is survived by her brother, Terry Parrott; her devoted daughters, Kim Plumer and husband Bret, and Stephanie Craven and husband Ron; four beloved grandchildren, Griffin and Morgan Plumer, Elizabeth Clark, and Abigail Craven; two great-grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Colleda Parrott; her brother, Leon Parrott; and her husband, Charles Dale Huson.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Countryside Christian Church.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I’m heartbroken to hear of Luella’s passing. Doing her hair this past year wasn’t just a job—it was a joy. We shared so many laughs and heartfelt conversations, and I always looked forward to seeing her in my chair. She became more than a client; she became a friend. Her warmth and light will be deeply missed. Please know my thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

    With love and deepest sympathy
    Donita Fredrick

  2. Signed your niece Rajina Rene’s Parrott. Love and rest in peace and contentment receiving the welcoming of our Father God into his kingdom; your rightful home

    • Remembering many memorable years living next door to my neighbor Luella. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. What a amazing neighbor and times we enjoyed! Now she is home with Dale.

  3. Remembering Aunt Luella for her kindness and compassion for her family. Thanksgiving at Luella’s set the standard for family, fellowship, and of course – food! Aunt Luella had a process and ran a tight ship, with assigned seating for 15+ and a strict no shoes policy. But she always remembered my love for her homemade noodles and pickled okra, so she sat me right next to both every year.

Rest in peace, Aunt Luella. Your precious moments are just beginning.

    Love,

    Matthew Wayne
