M. Lucile Gibson

Gibson, Margaret Lucile, 91, retired Coleman bookkeeper, died Thursday, April 19, 2007. Visitation 9:30 A.M., Service 10:30 A.M., both Monday, April 23 at Prairie Homestead. Margaret was born September 11, 1915, on a farm near Latham, Kansas in southeast Butler County. She was the fourth daughter born to Benjamin and Anna Brent Gibson. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Fern Edmiston, Frances Oliver and Hazel Raymond; two nephews, Keith and Kent Edmiston. She is survived by her only brother, George Willard Gibson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nieces, Carolyn Wyss of Wichita, Kansas, Kathy Lange of St. Louis, Missouri and Janet Waswo of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nephews, Don Raymond of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Kenneth Oliver of Burlington, Kansas, Roger Gibson of Dallas, TX and Randy Gibson of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are 14 great-nieces and nephews and 8 great-great-nieces and nephews. Lucile spent her childhood on her familys farm. She attended Brownlow Methodist Church and Keighly Grade School. At twelve, her family moved to a farm near Benton, Kansas where she completed grade school. She attended Ell Dorado High School and Graduated from El Dorado Junior College. Lucile taught for eight years in the Butler County rural schools. During world War II she worked for the Army Air Force. After twenty-seven years of employment with the Coleman Company in Wichita, she retired in 1980. Lucile was a member of the First Baptist church of Wichita and a resident of Prairie Homestead Retirement Community. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
