Barrier, Malea (Wallace), finished her nearly blameless career Saturday August 23, 2014. A native of Wichita she is preceded in death by her parents, John W. Wallace and Helen (Johnson) Wallace, as well as her brother, Lanny J. Wallace. She is survived by her children: Morgan (Brett) Gahagan, Jay (Jill) Barrier II, Will Barrier and Connor Barrier; grandson, Henry Brosius Pflumm Barrier; and sister, Nancy (Garry) Moore; all native Wichitans. Malea was a woman of amazing vitality and true class. She was of the unique special few to show true dignity in nearly all situations with rarely a negative word to say; above all she truly loved life and is among the lucky that can come to their end and know they lived as well as possible. She was a woman of true grace and above all she loved her children and held a special place in her heart for her friends, the latter of which she had many. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be dearly and deeply missed. Her love and affection for her children and grandchild was and is certainly reciprocated and they at least take solace in the knowledge that she rests in the comfort and peace of the Lord. In lieu of flowers and in accordance with her final wishes, please generously donate to the non-euthanizing Lifeline Animal Placement Home, the only facility of its kind in Kansas. Please send funds to: Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection, 310 W 45th North, Wichita, KS 67204, http://lifelineanimalplacement.org. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 28, 2014, at East Heights United Methodist Church. Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
