Marcella (Sanders) Whitman

Marcella (Sanders) Whitman 93, was born December 22, 1923, in St. Peter, Kansas, and passed away December 18, 2017, in Wichita, Kansas. Marcella was kind, loving, and deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. She enjoyed time with family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved Polka, line dancing, gardening, playing cards and spoiling her family with her Volga German recipes. She often reminisced about her youth and living through the Dust Bowl and Great Depression of the 1930s. A loving mother, she was a true matriarch who always showed strength and love despite the many hardships she experienced. She was preceded in death by husband, Clarence Sanders; second husband, Raymond Whitman; son-in-law, Dean Biggs, and grandson, Jason Biggs. Survivors: sons and daughters, Jerry (Susan) Sanders, Dorothy Biggs, LaVerne (Pam) Sanders, Carl (Maurie) Sanders and Mary (Mark) Thiessen; brother Alvin (Mary Jane) Knoll; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Rosary, 6:30 p.m., Thursday, December 21; Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., Friday, December 22, both at Lumen Chapel at Via Christi Village, 3636 N. Ridge Road.
