Marcia J. Chinberg

Marcia J. Chinberg, 89, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister in Christ, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Marcia was born in El Dorado, KS in 1934. Her family moved frequently while she was young, but ultimately ended up in McPherson, KS. Marcia graduated from McPherson High School in 1952. After graduation, she went to work at McPherson Refinery and throughout her life she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for various employers. She married Daniel Chinberg in 1956, moving to Wichita in 1959. Marcia and Dan were long-time members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, with Marcia involved with various ministries including the altar guild, wedding and funeral receptions, choir and Bible studies.
Marcia deeply loved her family and will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and kindness and generous heart. She was an exceptional hostess, a wonderful cook and a faithful friend. She enjoyed traveling and was a strategic game and card player.Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am on Tuesday October 17, 2023, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at New Gottland Lutheran Cemetery, McPherson, KS.
Preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. Chinberg; parents, Levi and Osa Ruth Scott; sister Joan Bunker: brothers, Don and John Scott. Survived by her sons, Michael (Carol) Chinberg, Doug (Kathy) Chinberg, Tim Chinberg, 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Memorials have been established with Holy Cross Lutheran Church Altar Guild and the Holy Cross Lutheran School Endowment, both at 600 N. Greenwich Rd., Wichita, Kansas 67206. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
We have so many wonderful memories of Marcia. May God give you peace and comfort knowing she rests in the arms of Jesus. We are in New Zealand and regret that we cannot be with you to give you hugs.
Marcia was such a dear person! When I first joined Holy Cross. Marcia was one of the many people to make me feel welcome.
I have missed seeing her smiling face at church.
